Having one of our northern California summer heat waves this week. When I left work yesterday at 6:15pm, my car thermo showed 113F on the white concrete sidewalk in front of my parking spot. Oy. However, because I hand water every morning that it's going to be over 90F, the garden looked pretty good when I got home. Only the backyard hydrangea, which is in too sunny a spot (my whole damn yard is too sunny) was a bit droopy but was fine this morning.
The front garden gets blasted by hot wind and sun in summer so most of the stuff out there is very heat tolerant. A few things that aren't have adapted - a Kassandra coral bells and a hydrangea are doing well there.
Planted a little miniature rose from the mark down rack out there last week and it looks happy enough, as does the vinca. Not much new and interesting, really.
