An update on the last ten days:
We didn't get anymore snow, but on Jan 9 it was extremely frosty with black ice on the roads. It's the second time in my life I've driven on black ice, and it was so slippery. At one point I was braking, but the SUV kept going forward. Fortunately, I was already going slow, so nothing really bad happened. Amazing how my kids weren't all that scared.
Our furniture for the dining room came. Yay! But oh wait, that's right. One of the twelve chairs we bought didn't come, because it was split in half on the way here. It was good quality Amish furniture, and the delivery people didn't care one single bit if a chair was broken. On top of that, nine of the chairs came with problems (some had disconnected wood pieces, others with large scratches or dents), so my husband is replacing them all. It was ten grand worth of furniture, yet almost all the chairs were messed up. The table was fine, fortunately.
We did a Christmas call yesterday with my son, my DIL and my granddaughter, since they were supposed to come for Christmas, but because of COVID they weren't able to (they live in CA). We opened all of our presents, and then at the end, they announced their last present: my DIL is pregnant with another baby! I'm a grandmother of two now. So happy.
My son (Johannian) and I have planned our gardens: pollinator garden, wildflower garden, sunflower garden, and our fruit/veggie/anything edible garden. Johannian got ten seed packets of various things for Christmas, and we both went to Menard's and got 16 seed packets, so now we have 26 seed packets to grow in the fruit/veggie/anything edible garden!
That's enough for today, but I think tomorrow I'll be posting another wildflower list.
Happy gardening!
