Johannian's blog: 2020-2021 Drought and Then Some

Posted on Dec 8, 2021 9:23 AM

One can only hope that snow is on its way to us! This is shaping up to be the driest November in SD since '31. Went fishing yesterday, but the lake is so drained that it's been overrun with algae, and all I was bringing back was clumps of algae on the hook and sinker.

Not fun. We really need some water or the fish will die, no doubt. And we've got some natural running rainbows in there, which is quite rare in this country now. Not cool you cursed weather!

No water, but ahh, such a beautiful day. I never thought I'd see the day where my heart yearns not for that one girl for which I want to play a serenade under her window, but yearning oh so sweetly for THE DANG DARK CLOUDS TO COVER THE SUN AGAIN AND GIVE US SOME BLASTED WATER!!!!!

Hah, you thought I was turning into a sappy dude, huh? Thought I had converted to writing romance dramas?

Naw, never going down that path. Sorry, but I'm lactose intolerant and can't handle cheese.

Well, I need to go cool off. This whole drought thing wasn't really bad at first, until my fishing was touched. That's my no-no square. Anything messes with my fishing and I've got to be restrained.

*************

All right, I'm back. Missed me? Thought so.

Well, we haven't gotten our tree yet, but we've got an upstairs and a downstairs so we're getting two. Does this mean double gifts? I dunno, knowing my parents, probably not. They're not so easily tricked. Anyway, we're buying a tree for upstairs and downstairs me 'N' the younger siblings are going to go out on the property and cut down a tree. Unfortunately with Ponderosa Pines, it's kinda hard to find just the right one, but hey, all part of the hunt, right?

No plants to take care of currently, unless you count the Norfolk Island Pine, which can just kind of take care of itself, with just a watering here and there. Really beautiful tree though, and I recommend getting one if you're looking for pretty and forest-y trees.

About a quarter through learning Ancient Greek, but I'm way behind so I've gotta make sure I'm doing double the work every day.

Cheerio!

P.S. I didn't edit the post because I've got to get going on math, so forgive me if you find a whole truckload of errors!
