sucrose's blog: My poor Clarence

Posted on Apr 19, 2023 8:13 PM

This morning I inspected my garden and this is what I found. One of my poor Clarence was bitten to death! This poor iris was bought last year. It went through rot issue last November, and again rot issue this March, I just saved them in my last post. But now finally has been bitten into 4 pieces.

I still have the other half, thbks to its big rhizome size, I was able to split it into half during the second rot rescue. This half was left intact yesterday night because I put some plastic protection on it. See photo below.

This one is small, also was bitten by animal before, but survived and just sending out three new fans. The biggest fan was beheaded, but still has two small fans attached. Usually such big bites will significantly set back the iris growth. Let's see if this one will survive or not.

My saving method is to put plastic protections around small irises. I will show a photo tomorrow.
