I live in VA and have several plants that like a lot of sunlight such as manihot esculenta, avocado seedling, musa bajoo, mints and succulents. I don't know if they will like it inside in the winter. I can put some of them on window ledges but I don't think most of them like the cold. Should I get a light?

I would consider some type of artificial light so that you can keep the plants out of cold drafts. You could use one of those "octopus" floor lamps with higher output bulbs that might adapt a little better to different plant heights (depending on your situation). Or you could use 24" or 48" shop light fixtures with good bulbs in them depending on how much space you have.
