| I have a lot of rose bushes in plastic planters. What is the best way to store them over the winter? |
| If you can, sink the containers right into well-drained soil, taking care not to put them any deeper than the soil level in the planters. Water them well, and heap soil up to a foot above the graft union. After the ground freezes for the winter, pile on lots of straw or other mulch. Slowly remove the mulch and soil as the ground thaws next spring. If you aren't able to plant them in the ground, bring them into a garage or other unheated outbuilding and place them on the inside of an outside wall. Heap straw up around them to insulate against temperature fluctuations. I hope this helps! |
