Small, usually offsetting aloe with glaucous leaves and oblique inflorescences. The inflorescences, while relatively small (raceme 8-10 inches), can be quite showy because they are very densely flowered and have an unusual sideways orientation. This plant is quite tolerant of heat and drought, but somewhat susceptible to rot when conditions are wet. Provide strong light and excellent drainage in cultivation.

Found in rings in habitat to about 6 feet, with several rosettes. Rainfall in habitat is not abundant and falls mostly in late summer/early autumn. This species absorbed the former A. schlechteri and A. decora about 80 years ago.
