"Paeonia 'Gardenia', (3-DB-WH) lactiflora Peony, (Lins, 1948), USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Medium height, double, white petals, large flower, occasional yellow stamen, sidebuds, redish stems, midseason bloomer , Michigan Bloom Month 5c-6.

Bred by Mr. E. H. Lins of Cologne, Minnesota and released in 1948. Named 'Gardenia' because it looks like a Gardenia (Would make a good question for the ""Stupid Answers"" category on Jeopardy). Dark green and fairly coarse foliage."
