I'm wanting to order a new rose this year, and the selection locally is, well, dismal. I like old roses, DA roses, not looking for hybrid teas. Also like floribundas. What are some companies that y'all recommend for mail order?

Roses
My favorites would have to be;

A Reverence for Roses https://www.areverenceforroses...

Freedom Gardens http://www.combinedroselist.co...

Burlington Nursery (you need to email her to see what she has available) [email protected]

I have had good success with Roses Unlimited--she has very hard to find Barni roses https://rosesunlimitedsc.com/

Relatively good success with Rogue Valley Roses--only one mislabled rose which they replaced with the right rose immediately https://roguevalleyroses.com/, They also didn't know they carried roses from Judith Singer (one of the few places that carry her roses and they had highlighted her that month that I asked about her roses)

Small plants and roots from Antique Rose Emporium, https://antiqueroseemporium.co... and

Good success from David Austin Roses--https://www.davidaustinroses.com/us/?gclid=CjwKCAiAvonyBRB7EiwAadauqRbpSsqzqDDg3APvT0w9EnkfL0nqPuSFD6iAVmrWywn1MHpqTl9RXxoCbzIQAvD_BwE

I stay far far away from Heirloom, and Jackson and Perkins.

I hear good things about Greenmantle but have yet to order from them. http://www.greenmantlenursery....

How about rose petals, in Florida? A lot of found old garden roses.

I only listed the ones I have ordered from so I could speak of personal experience, with the exception of Greenmantle which others have said are excellent. Someone else will have to tell you about Rose Petals.

I don't buy much, these days, but I LOVE Burlington.

Rose Petals has a great selection, but for me in CA, and on my budget, the shipping is tough.

Did anyone mention highcountryroses.com? Besides those mentioned above such as Burlington, FreedomGardens and ARE, I've also ordered from the 'old' Chamblee. I don't know how they are since they've been bought. All the above are own-root roses. The only grafted roses I've received have been from David Austin and Springhill gardens during latter's sales. Both had very nice bare roots.

Thank you for so many great places to buy roses! Shipping costs a concern for me, too. The shipping costs from Florida to Arkansas is pretty good, plus there is the advantage of the Florida roses being grown in a similar climate to mine.

They still have a website up. I would love to pay them a visit! Sounds like they ship, and they sound reasonable for the sizes they offer.

I tried to post a link, but was unsuccessful.

I emailed Roses of Yesterday and Today and received a reply stating that they no longer ship roses and have a very limited nursery at this point as well. Sad

I wanted to buy Silver Shadows, a pale lavender rose from the 1980s, and found it available from Heirloom but it won't be ready until May. It's out of stock at Rogue Valley Roses.

I wish we had more nurseries to buy from!

That's too bad, Ann.

I still hope to pay them a visit sometime this spring, I am interested in some of their OGR. I guess I should call first.
