I thought I would start a thread listing some of the plants that have been featured as Daylily of the Day but received no entries. Maybe some of you have grown these plants since then and can provide reviews. We'll start with the A's. Smiling

I included a few that had comments like "looking forward to the reviews on this one!" but no actual reviews. Most had nothing at all.

Nan, I think this is a great idea. I always read the information contained in the Daylily of the Day when I look up a daylily. I dont have much to add yet to any of them as most daylillies are new to my garden. But I appreciate everyone who has provided information for the Daylily of the Day and Becky who starts them,. The information is very helpful when choosing a daylily. Thumbs up

Thanks, K. I feel the same way. I love the Daylily of the Day feature.

I think we should encourage Zoia to buy these cultivars because then we know they would get reviews! Hilarious!

Haha! Hilarious! It's my annual tradition to review everything I have in the Fall and see how it did. I think the multi year view is pretty telling. I'm getting Amanda's Little Red Shoes this year, so that's at least one on the list.

Good! I was surprised that Amanda's Little Red Shoes had no reviews. A lot of people own it, and there are lots of database pictures.

And I agree that the multiyear reviews are a great idea.

I included a few that had comments like "I just bought this...too new to tell how it does" but nothing else. Someone posted a picture on one but no review, so I included that one as well. One was named Daylily of the Day just in February, so people may not have gotten around to it yet, but I included it anyway. Most had no comments at all.

Great idea, Nan! I also love the daylilies being featured and reviewed by those growing them, this gives me a second chance to chime in on those I missed when Becky first posted them.

I'm so glad, Dianne. As I mentioned above, several of the A's have received reviews since yesterday, and that is very encouraging.

I did hesitate on a few--several folks posted aborted reviews and said things like "stay tuned for more next year" but then didn't follow up. I ended up not including those.

It has been educational. I really have been enjoying clicking through each cultivar featured. I have been dazzled by several I'd never heard of and a few have been added to my "want list."

I imagine that I will put a pause on this project as the growing season progresses; when people are posting pictures in the bloom threads and collecting pollen, etc., they are less likely to have leisure to write reviews. My tentative plan is to add letters through April (maybe not every day--depends on what I've got going on) and then finish up next winter.

Great idea, Nan! Luckily, there are only 24 letters and not all of them have a lot of action…Q…Z… For obvious reasons, I'm always looking for nice Z daylilies.

And there is nothing at all under "X." That one I can get done quickly. Hilarious!

Great idea. I always check out daylilies before I get one, and was disappointed when there was no info. A bad review may not stop me from getting it if I reall6 like it, but I plant it in my best spots. Which I am running low on! I have tried to go back after having a plant a few years and updated, but I may go back thru and do that more.

This is great. I've never heard of many of the ones you listed! It's helpful to have a review rather than just buying it. I'm getting more limited on space so I have to be more selective on my choices or swap ones out.

We need to get one of our hybridizer friends here to name a cultivar after you!

Nan, thanks for posting this list. I use the "Daylily of the Day" information when making decisions about purchasing. Unfortunately, I just don't have a lot of named varieties, and those are only a year old, so I don't have much to contribute. I did add a comment about the one of the list that I had (Blackberries and Cream). I'll keep following in case I have another one.

Thanks, Lori! While I was compiling these, I noticed Blackberries and Cream and thought it was a pretty one. You can add more reviews next year. It's a good activity to do in winter while we're all wishing we could be outside...something to supplement planning which ones to order!! Whistling
