I had the best rose season in 2018 but it's finally coming to an end. Here are some pics of my last roses.

Beautiful! You have Lyda rose! I don't see that one very often and it is a beauty. It is interesting that I will some years lean towards very full roses and other years singles and semi-doubles. This seems to be a single/semi year.

Thanks porkpal! I hope to post a few more pics before the season is done completely.

Mustbenuts - I love Lyda Rose! She's been a steady four x four for several years but just recently she's starting to get wider, maybe because I've planted around her recently and she's getting more water than she used to.

Here's a photo from a couple of days ago.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

Apologies to everyone, especially Carol and seil who mentioned Neil Diamond: I'm embarrassed to say that I mis-labeled a rose on my first post. The rose I called Neil Diamond is actually Broceliande. These striped roses are on either side of my Mitsouko rose so the background in the photos are similar. This error forced me to learn to use the edit feature so it's now correctly identified. Sorry!

Question about photos: I've reduced the image size of my photos from maximum to large to get greater clarity but I'm finding clarity here is about the same as the Houzz site meaning that you still have to click on the image to see it properly as Carol noted. Any suggestions about getting greater clarity on the NGA site?

Here's Strawberry Hill from a couple of days ago before the smoke got really bad.

Also, here's Pope John Paul II with tons of new growth. He doesn't seem to know the difference between winter and spring!

Ann your roses are gorgeous! I really love Lyda Rose too, she looks very sweet and charming. Wise Portia and Rouge Royale also are super beautiful as well and that is some healthy looking new growth on PJP, can't wait to see pics of it blooming.

Ann, I think the photos in this post are quite clear, but, of course, I've been using two obsolete cameras on this site ... Rolling my eyes.

As you get familiar with the site, you will find there are several places you can ask that kind of question and get much better answers than I can give you.

For example, we have three forums that would be perfect for that kind of question ... the ASK A QUESTION FORUM, the PHOTOGRAPHY FORUM and the SITE FORUM.

Just go up and click on COMMUNITY at the top of the page, then click on FORUMS in the drop down box and you will find a list of other forums on NGA.

I think I live further north in CA than you do and saw a lot of new growth on my roses after the heat passed. That kind of growth stopped once the night temps hit freezing.

I am just glad I don't have to do a lot of winter protection because this has been a lousy year for being productive.

Oh? So that's Broceliande! I tried to order that one a few years ago, but ended up with The McCartney rose instead.

Holey moley!!! Your PJPII is huge!!! What a vigorous rose bush!! Wowza...and so gorgeous!! I love Strawberry Hill's fragrance...but I got rid of it because I couldn't get the bush to hold itself up...it wanted to be espaliered. Lovely photos of yours!!

Carol
