We came from here
The thread "Our Orchid blooms in April 2022 🌹" in Orchids forum

Today is May 1! And here is our new thread for the month!
Let me start with my two nice bloomers continuing into May.
Thumb of 2022-05-01/Ursula/0cbb98
And a final look at the Jackfowlieara Appleblossom

and Vanda Anna is still opening the last buds on that spike.
Vanda Anna also blooms in Summer outside, I seem to remember the blooms a bit flatter then. I am only guessing, the humidity is a lot lower in the greenhouse than outside in the Summer to cause the curly blooms?

And my Bletillas made it through the chilly nights, I only had to cover them once this year. A few plants right against the house wall are starting up the parade.

Gorgeous start to the month Ursula!
It's always nice to see your happy bletilla blooms and the rest of your shows not too shabby either!
This first time bloomer opened up the other day, I was hoping it would flatten out a bit , but that must be the tibicinis in it coming through.

Yes, it is fairly old, registered in 1978

Actually, I have to clarify, the flower parts are really thick and sturdy, they have excellent substance, they are just a bit "disheveled " Smiling

It is a member of the genus Coelogyne. Coelogyne mossieae, or maybe Coelogyne cristata.
Coelogyne nitida and Coelogyne mooreana are two other species that are white with either yellow or orange in the throat.

If I was a betting man, I would say it is likely to be cristata, it is a species with several known varieties, all very similar in color.

This is the second flower to open on Phrag. QF Kamakilo Tyler x Phrag. Twilight.
Thumb of 2022-05-05/BigBill/de606b

As I said previously, this is a rather large flower. I think it is quite pretty!
The cross has been registered recently and is Phragmipedium Quintal Bang. I noticed a good number of these being offered for sale at several of the shows that I attended from early February through two weeks ago!

We have a question from a new member - @Lancemichael86 asking to identify this Orchid
Thumb of 2022-05-06/Ursula/35ed95

I was thinking Epidendrum?

I tend to agree Ursula. The growth habit looks like a Reed stemmed Epidendrum. It has very slender growths, roots exiting from those tall, skinny canes, definitely reminds me of E. radicans, E. ibaguense, etc.
If the member can get it to bloom, then we will know.
