I am looking for someone who may have or sell this particular Daylily. Mary Carriker was my grandmother and I'd like to present this plant as a gift to my mother, her daughter, for her birthday. It would mean a great deal to her, and her 4 siblings, to find this. We've never had this plant before and I have no idea where to locate it. I appreciate any help!

I doubt anyone here grows Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mary Carriker') as no one has submitted a photo.
It was registered 30 years ago, I don't recognize the hybridizer name, it may never have gone into circulation.

Here's the scoop on the hybridizer

from Region 6 tributes
"Dr. Eugene Bernard "Gene" Orgeron
Region 6 RVP 1990-91
April 30, 1919 - January 24, 2016
by Ray Houston
Gene Orgeron was born April 30, 1919, in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of Camile & Stella Orgeron.

Gene served in the U.S. Army 162nd Infantry during World War II in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines.

After the war he attended Lamar University and Rice University for premed education and then Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago where he met his wife, Nancy Marie McGill. They were married January 10, 1953, in Cook County, Illinois.

He returned to Houston for his Internship at Jefferson Davis Hospital and Pediatric Residency at Hermann Hospital. He was in private practice of Pediatrics in Port Arthur from 1955 to 1985.

Gene's interest in daylilies first started in 1964 and he grew and hybridized them for many years. He was an active member of the Gulf Coast Daylily Society and was a member of American Hemerocallis Society since 1972.

Gene registered 13 daylilies and his Hemerocallis 'Ming Empress' was runner-up for the President's Cup Award at the 1988 American Hemerocallis Society Convention in Houston. His seedling which was later registered as H. 'Oh Nancy', named for his wife, was winner of the 1990 Region 6 Edna Lankart Award

He served as 1986-1990 Region 6 Puzzle Chairman, and served as 1990-91 Region 6 RVP and Newsletter Editor.

Gene & Nancy's garden was on tour during the 1985, 1991, and 1997 Region 6 Meetings hosted by the Gulf Coast Daylily Society.

In 1996, Gene was honored as the recipient of the American Hemerocallis Society Region 6 Service Award for his service to Region 6 and American Hemerocallis Society.

For many years Gene served as Garden Judge, Exhibition Judge, and Exhibition Judges Clinic Instructor"

Thinking In addition he was the pediatrician for our two kids. I don't have any of his daylilies.

Gene, Kudos to you for sharing all that information. I had remembered his name and that he was from Region 6, but didn't have all that wealth of information you shared.

@Allisonelise, my suggestion to you would be for you to contact the presidents of daylily clubs in TX to see if any members there still grow any of Dr. Orgeron's daylilies. The first National meeting I attended in TX was in 2008. Sadly, not long after that rust hit the US, and gardens in TX were particularly hard hit. A couple of years after that convention, I heard that many gardeners in TX had quit growing daylilies because of rust, even a couple of the large tour gardens I'd visited. Hope that you can find this daylily. Your best shot will be in TX.

Great, thank you both for sharing your knowledge! I'll certainly reach out in Texas. My family still lives near port Arthur as they are from Beaumont, so maybe someone there also has information.

@Allisonelise

You might also look at AHS display gardens and, while it may not show up readily on a google search... keep in mind, google 'may' have a match that is 'pages' into the responses. Just as an example, I picked up a daylily I absolutely love at an AHS display garden that I was visiting...

Did not realize till later, when it was in my gardens and I was updating my records, it was registered in 1976 and there was 'no' picture of it anywhere... not the database here, not with AHS. What was blooming in my gardens was (IMHO) gorgeous but the registered description made no sense at all ... particularly, not when compared to the bloom... so I started hunting for any other source. I finally located it on a list of daylilies in the South Dakota State University's gardens' Daylily Collection. So I contacted them, explained my quandry and sent them a picture to see if 'my' 'Travers' matched theirs.

As it turns out, it did match - perfectly. So I uploaded pics to the database here and am planning to send a picture to AHS.

But when I first searched for it, it did not show up anywhere ... I had to keep changing my search terms before I finally got another hit with google.

Convoluted story, sorry, but the point: it may not be listed / sold by garden nurseries per se ... that does not mean that no one has it! ('Travers' was not listed here till I acquired mine and I am still the only member listed as having it.) So ... maybe start checking Display gardens...? Thinking

You can google for Daylily Display gardens in Texas, for example... and most display gardens now have online links. Even if you can just get a phone number to call someone and see if they have it in a university garden or such, might help you track it down. Crossing Fingers!

It's likely going to be in some private garden somewhere, if you can connect with them.
