I feel your enthusiasm for beautifying your back yard and had to giggle at your DH confiscating your home and garden supplies.
You have FL sand to garden in and I have river sand. It's just a lot of amending and amending the soil so it will hold nutrients for your plants. I have acidic soil which yours probably is too. I mulch a lot with leaves and store bought mulch to keep the moisture in the soil and it also keeps weeds down. Later on as it breaks down it will give your garden nutrients. If you are a coffee drinker save the grounds, they add nitrogen to the soil.
Your puppies can be taught to follow the garden paths instead of galloping through your newly purchased plants.
In my photo my garden pal is waiting for me to exit the flower beds so we can have some fun.
I look forward to seeing your gardens grow! Thumbs up

Good Morning Kabby -

Thank you for your message, I love the picture of your dog.

I have lived in Florida for a long time now and I am still having battles with sandy soil and humidity of the summer months. So, I am trying to motivate myself more now during the springtime.

This year I am planning to get out in the garden more during the summer months, perhaps I will do my gardening during the twilight hours and just put up with the humidity. Rolling my eyes. After my cuppa tea I am going to ask my hubby to go with me to look at some plants etc... a nice way to spend time in the morning.

Hope you have a super day Kabby.

Good morning Rhonda, I understand your humidity too. I bought a beach umbrella for when I'm in the yard and a shop fan to cool me off when I take breaks. And also getting outside at daybreak lol. That's a couple of months off for me thank goodness.
I'm off to sow some annuals and replant daylilies. You have a great day too!
