These small trees are very common in the Eastern U. S. and Canada. Their value as a landscape plant is quite impressive. And they are equally beautiful in their natural setting along roadsides and woodland edges. They are early harbingers of spring beginning with their breathtaking displays of color in late April and early May. Spring has truly arrived when they are seen in bloom alongside dogwoods and other early flowering small trees.
