Hi all,
The past few weeks have been super busy. The AHS Region 4 convention was last weekend July 22 - 24th. Perfect weather for the convention; a little hot on Saturday, but not too bad. Friday evening Heidi and Charles Douglas of Brown's Ferry Gardens were the keynote speakers. http://www.brownsferrygardens.... If you ever have the chance to attend one of their presentations, I highly recommend you do so. Lots of daylily folks including quite a few daylily peeps from Ontario and Nova Scotia. A whole bus load of peeps from HADS Hudson Adirondack Daylily Society NY Saturday morning up early and off to the garden tours.
Amazing gardens on the tour including Harmon Hill Daylilies in Hudson NH - http://harmonhillfarm.com/
Saturday evening dinner and auction was loads of fun. I was the high bid on Southern Shiner H. Douglas 16'. And, This lily had 3 buds. I've already made crosses. Smiling

Hi all Been a busy week. We are in the peak of daylily season here in New England. LOVE IT!!! AHS Region 4 convention is one week away. Summer is finally upon us; it was a relatively cool May and June. This past week we've been low 90's hot n humid. The Carolina wrens are on their 2nd brood. I just can't resist sitting in the backyard enjoying the comings and goings of these wrens. Their song is simply delightful. We have yet to get any vegetables from the garden. This time last year, we already had our first tomatoes. This year we just had to try Mexico Midget - a couple fruits are getting close to ripe. I'm getting very impatient waiting; c'mon maters let's get going.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July Smiling Enjoyed time cooking out today; hotdogs, burgers and polish kielbasa yummy. Finally finished spreading composted hay in the garden paths. Yay another 'to do' checked off the list. Added another honey super to a couple of the hives. The girls have been very busy making honey.

We have two pairs of Carolina wrens nesting in our bluebird houses. Carolina wrens are fairly new to our area; quite the little chatters. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/...

Another perfect day; still working on spreading goat compost on the garden paths. We desperately need rain; I can't recall the last time we had any significant rainfall. My front lawn is a brown, pitiful version of it's early spring lush green Sad
At least the flower gardens and vegetable garden have the goat compost to help with some moisture retention.

A more perfect day would be hard to match today's weather. Sunny, breezy and 80's no humidity..... love it
We spent the day putting compost on the garden paths to keep the weeds down. We use the composted hay, goat 'berries' from the goat pen....

Daylily season has begun here in NH......
