One corner of my garden has a small dry stone wall across it,..i grow several rock loving plants in the wall like Campanula,..Oxalis,..and Alyssum,..mostly this is what one sees until my Lilies which are behind the wall in containers start to bloom,..deep in the corner is a ten foot tall Fuchsia,..just to give an idea how big the space behind the wall is,..below are some shots.

Taken yesterday.

I posted the pictures below in the Bird Thread,..should have copied and pasted Whistling

About two weeks ago i was nearly able to get to the bank of the river which is where those wood jetties can be seen sticking up.

Yesterday i could only get halfway down that road,..flooded meadows on the left,..canal on the right and flooded meadows beyond that.

I have being very busy away from the house for the past few days,..April is the time we go hell bent for leather preparing for the Tourist Season,..in my case and several friends its preparing boats we hire out,..i wont see them again until the end of September,..with new carpeting/ mattresses/bed linen and covers/kitchen utensils/not forgetting the biggest jobs of taking the boats from the water to clean off dirt and Zebra Mussels,..the same people book the boats for the same times nearly every year and do want the same boat if possible,..so if anything came to their attention that was not up to standard they expect it to be replaced for the next trip.

A little bird appeared in the garden this evening and not one i see very often.

Goldfinch.

When there seems to be nothing to do in the garden,..one creates something to do,..so i moved all my Delphiniums to one location and did the same with my Foxgloves,..of course there are Delphinium seeds sown,..these were to replace any lost over winter but i didn't lose any so i will have more than i can use though hoping one or two will be a white or yellow as i only have blues of various shades.

Geraniums stored without soil and left hanging in my shed over winter were potted 14 days ago and some are showing leaves today.

The River Shannon water level has being high since last October,..only dropping a few feet when we don't have rain but not enough to return to normal,..Waterbirds are mating now and hanging about on little raised pieces of land,..contemplating making nests,..however those raised areas are right in the middle of grassland which is now flooded but should return to just grassy meadows before eggs are hatched therefore leaving eggs and young birds open to dogs and foxes,..one wonders.

Water level yesterday,..the further barriers are where the river bank is............Higher Today.
