Oh wow! That is beautiful! It is the first time I've seen this type of bloom. I used to have a few air plants. I only have one left and it is not blooming.

That is some exquisite beauty right there, all the color and texture and form in that thing. Lovey dubby

I have a big clump but none have ever bloomed.

The clump started with 3 rosettes about 5 years ago.

Wow.. I am not aware that tillandsia can flower, and it's a very nice color too.

@Baja, you grow them with soil, will that make them grew any root? I thought they do not need any media, just need to spray some water from time to time?

They are not in the soil, they're nestled on top of the top dressing (chunky pumice). No roots. They enjoy the same watering schedule as the Fockea, which is a few squirts of water twice a week. The location was chosen based on that.

There's some irony in an epiphyte being compatible with a geophyte, care-wise. Smiling

Yea they bloom. SO COOL!!! They die once they bloom though, as they are monocarpic. Usually, they make lots of babies before it though.. It takes a long time for them to die off so sometimes after it blooms it will produce more babies.

I have one of these too, T. ionantha.

In 2013 I stuck it between these Dracaena trunks:
Thumb of 2021-07-28/purpleinopp/5556a9

The last time it bloomed was in March of this year. I'm terrible at catching the bloom in a more showy state.
Thumb of 2021-07-28/purpleinopp/d34b8d

It has some roots that hold onto the trunk. I douse it when I'm watering the soil for the tree, 3-4x per week, and spritz it with a squirt bottle impulsively when I think about it. This pic is from 2016, it was in the mood to make several roots where I could take a pic.

Awww... The shells remind me of our "dry aquarium" growing up.

I have a "Shell" wall clock I purchased while on vacation.

And these are my collections, some are purchased and some also collected @ the beach.
There was an old man set-up a temporary table at the beach and selling seashells, I always make sure that I buy something from him every year when I went to the beach, heard he had passed away like 5 to 8 years ago. I may had supported him financially, but I somehow indirectly speedup the extinction of certain species, esp. Nautilus Sad

TJOE, I love the urchins posing as Euphorbias!! I have a bunch of those urchins too... wonder where I put 'em? I also have a snowman made out of 3 urchins, wearing a tiny straw hat with little seashells for buttons.

Alex, I've had some of my shells for almost 50 yrs, most them were not in the pics. Never kept one with a live critter in it except once by accident, a marine hermit crab.
