This gymno is growing 2 new ribs, I thought the number of ribs are quite stable if they are more than 5cm, but this 8cm gymno is still growing new ribs.

The contrast between inside and outside colors is pretty spectacular, even with just a hint of the green. Lovey dubby

That's still part of the rootstock that I am afraid to carve out. I think Stush said he left some part of the rootstock too. So my plan is just to let them callous for a few days and see if they will all root.

Hahaha.. Hope you can successfully degraft them.

As for the rootstock, if you graft something on it now, then most likely it will not grow any new branches as the energy will be used by the scion, it will grow some new branches if you keep it as it is without any scion on top.

Well hope I can successfully root them! Ok, I will let them grow first then. I have a dragon fruit but not like this one.

The Thai Gymno is ready for the show, hope the flower is different from normal white flower.

And this Gymno is ready to split with a lot new ribs, 8 outer ribs with 11 - 12 new growth ribs. Compare with the normal one with 9 outside and 9 new growth.

Some gymnos are growing this kind of wooly things, possibly some sort of protection from the crazy hot weather.

I bought the one above on the basis that I read it had yellow blooms . I will look up the name . It's taken a couple of years to get to a size where it blooms but it doesn't look like those buds will be yellow at this point

The G. baldianum I purchased has red blooms. For a small plant that seems to be subject to scarring easily, it's a serial bloomer that produces a lot of blooms over a period of time. For a while they grow sequientially. The other Gymno I have doesn't do that. I really like the bloom habits, but wish the plant were easier to keep looking better. Baldianum's rate of growth has been nearly imperceptable.

Ok i checked , i bought mine as gymnocalycium andreae. The pics in the database show yellow flowers. I just went and checked and the buds are showing a slight yellow hue , so maybe the ID was right and i was to quick to judge. I will post a pic if they make it
