Broken Tree
Posted on May 18, 2020 2:28 PM

Well, from the storm last night, half of one of our trees cracked in half and fell on my husband's car.

Luckily, it was only scratched up and not dented or anything (because only the end of the tree landed on it), but it's still gonna cost a pretty penny to get it fixed up.

Torrential rain
Posted on May 18, 2020 1:25 PM

Last night we had the hardest rain we've had in all of our 6 years of living in this house. It literally sounded like someone had turned on a giant faucet above our house.

My little mini-roses plant my son gave me for Mother's Day were torn up from the rain (yes, the rain was that hard), but I'm hoping to revive them.

Surprisingly, my calla lilies (that my son also gave me) survived it.

Today, the air was crisp and cool though, from the rain, and the sun was out. We are expecting (possibly) a little more rain today, and luckily it won't be as hard as last night.

I must admit, it was pretty scary. I had never heard rain like that before. Some of my other plants were torn up from the rain as well.

Anyway, just checkin' in and lettin' you guys know about the rain. Happy gardening and stay safe!

Weather preventing gardening
Posted on May 17, 2020 7:20 PM

Well, it's been a week since my last post haha. Nothing really to write about. It's almost spring and it's been raining the past week, so I can't garden.

I can still keep up with the succulents that are on the deck though. My thimble cactus just got its first bloom, and so did a lot of other succulents. For some reason this year my succulents have all (well, almost all of them) gotten their first blooms. They never ever got buds until this year.

So, just checking in and letting you guys know that I'm still around, just nothing really to talk about.

Oh, except for this HUGE ant we found eating up little black ants (because it invaded their nest). The ant was about an inch long (I truly am not joking) and the entire bodies of the ants would be able to fit into the jaws of the huge ant. It was disgusting. We saw the little black ants squirming it the bigger ant's jaws 😬

Anyhoo, happy gardening everyone! Thumbs up

First Turkey Babies of The Year!
Posted on May 9, 2020 10:50 PM

Just checking in and telling you guys that today we just saw our first turkey babies of the year!
Ok, they're not OURS, but they come on our property.

Sadly, I do not have a picture, but I will try very hard to get one.

The turkey is a proud mother of 3 (there might have been four, because the little rascals were only about 4-5 inches tall, so it was hard to count them all through the tall weeds).

Like I said, I PROMISE to get pictures soon!

Hot Weather!
Posted on May 8, 2020 4:49 PM

Well, today is 91 degrees Fahrenheit, and it's the hottest it's been all year. It feels like it's 115 degrees Blinking

My face was all red when I was outside today. The main thing I was checking up on is the thimble cactus, which has three flower buds! Pretty soon I'll post pictures. It looks like they'll bloom within 2 or 3 weeks.

My son @Johannian's paromia (wait, I'm not sure if that's how you spell it, I'll ask him) has these bud-like things on them as well, but they're not flowers. They have spikes growing out of them. Oh and by the way, it's a cactus, in case you guys were wondering.

Anyhoo, just checking in and giving you guys an update.
Stay safe and happy everyone! Thumbs up
